That means that if Golovkin remains unbeaten and condemns 'Canelo' to just the second defeat in the Mexican's career, it will be 'Canelo' who can make the call for another meeting of the two most exciting middleweights in the world.
But, in rather unusual circumstances, Golovkin has no such stipulation in his contract and if he is dethroned by his upcoming opponent, GGG will simply have to return to the drawing board as 'Canelo' will be under no obligation to offer his rival a rematch.
Golden Boy Promotions president Eric Gomez revealed the intricacies of the contracts which prove that 'Canelo' is indeed the so-called "A side" in this match-up.
A venue has yet to be named for the clash although it's believed that the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, London's Wembley Stadium, the Staples Centre in L.A., Madison Square Garden and the AT&T Stadium in Dallas are all in the running to host the monster showdown.
Golovkin will be considered favourite for the fight and he was in attendance on Saturday night to confront the victorious but unfazed 'Canelo'.
"Golovkin, you are next, my friend," Canelo said after strolling through Chavez Jr.
We simply can't wait for this one!Explore more on these topics:
