It's not the first time Inverdale has slipped up on air during the Rio games.
While interviewing Andy Murray about his Olympic tennis achievements, the broadcaster
had to be reminded by Murray about the existence of Venus and Serena Williams, two of the sport's most decorated players of their generation.
Some viewers were already asking questions of the 58-year-old after that particular episode, so his treatment of Joshua was hardly going to win him any new fans.
