Mason Cartwright saw his chances of claiming the WBO European title disappear in Leeds on Saturday night. Despite having the better of the opening rounds of his fight with Darren Tetley, the fight - arguably the biggest draw on the undercard for Lee Selby's world title defence - was stopped in the ninth round. Tetley had fought back in the two rounds prior to this, opening up a nasty wound to Cartwright's mouth. On the advice of a doctor, the fight was stopped, handing victory to the Yorkshireman. Although Cartwright was clearly disappointed with the outcome, the amount of blood gushing from his lip made it a relatively straightforward decision for the ref. After the fight he insisted via Twitter he would've been willing to continue had the referee not intervened. 'If it was up to me I would have fought the 10th round all day [to] show my boxing ability,' Cartwright's tweet explained.  'I’ll be back,' he vowed.
