Although Cartwright was clearly disappointed with the outcome, the amount of blood gushing from his lip made it a relatively straightforward decision for the ref.
After the fight he insisted via Twitter he would've been willing to continue had the referee not intervened.
'If it was up to me I would have fought the 10th round all day [to] show my boxing ability,' Cartwright's tweet explained. 'I’ll be back,' he vowed.
Accompanying these words, he also shared video footage which revealed the extent of the injury he suffered.
