Darren O'Neill hailed Taylor's unanimous decision victory as "convincing" this morning.
The Kilkenny boxer was speaking to RTE Radio One early this morning after Taylor became world champion for the 5th consecutive time, beating Yana Allekseeva (40-37, 39-37, 39-37).
Breaking down the fight, O'Neill said: "She won the first round convincingly on two of the judges and after the third round she was only ahead on one and level on two others. It was down to the last round.
"It turned out they all gave her the last round and she won the last one convincingly."
And the man who captained the Irish boxing team at the 2011 European Championships and the 2012 Olympics revealed where he believes the Bray boxer rates in the list of all-time Irish greats.
"As far as I'm concerned, Katie Taylor is the greatest of all-time. She has six European titles, five worlds and an Olympic gold."
"I think she is the greatest of all-time and I have said this through the last few years before she ever had the medals that we don't appreciate her enough.
"Thankfully in the last few years she is beginning to get the credit she deserves.
"She is phenomenal and I don't think we will ever see anything like it again."
