She told the Irish Mirror: 'I saw it and I thought, do you know what, she deserves that homecoming. Obviously I've always wanted to fight Katie. Who doesn't?
"If you're around Katie's division, you want to challenge yourself against Katie because she's the best of the best.'Cameron also revealed she had previously been locked in talks to fight Taylor in September when the Serrano rematch was still set for the 3Arena in May. "I'd rather say in my boxing career that I've fought the best and the best is Katie. I'm not going to get bigger than that so for me, this is making my own moment and seeing how good I actually am.
"This fight could be signed right now. Katie wants to fight me. I want to fight Katie. I've agreed to everything. "I'm trying not to get excited about it now because obviously it's not signed and sealed, but if it doesn't happen I can see no reason why it wouldn't.'Taylor's promoter Hearn told Matchroom Boxing lauded the potential behind a Taylor-Cameron bout in Dublin - and even claimed she could make for a tougher opponent than Serrano. "She [Cameron] is undisputed at 140lbs, it is a tremendous fight and Katie Taylor, looking at the Amanda Serrano injury, said ‘I want to fight May 20th’.
"We have planned that homecoming, the 3 Arena is available. We have got to agree the money on both sides, but we are not a million miles away.
"I think it could be a tougher fight than Amanda Serrano, Chantelle is the bigger fighter, she is very aggressive, she punches very hard, and she has believed for a long time that she wins that fight.
"I believe that there is a good chance that we could get Taylor-Cameron over the line next week.'
