The punishment is in for Peter McDonagh following his weigh-in altercation with Shayne Singleton.
There was bad blood between Peter McDonagh and Shayne Singleton in the build-up to their clash on the undercard of Joseph Parker v Hughie Fury in the Manchester Arena last year.
The two pugilists exchanged heated words at the pre-fight press conference with McDonagh claiming that Singleton lacked heart in the later rounds. Singleton fired back by calling him a journeyman and questioning his athletic ability. They had to be separated by security during their media day staredown as they continued to mouth at each other.
It all boiled over at the weigh-ins. After both men came in under the limit, they engaged in another staredown. McDonagh proceeded to shove Singleton in the neck, which caused a furious reaction. Security stood between both men as Singleton desperately tried to break free to confront McDonagh.
Once it simmered down, McDonagh calmly swigged from a bottle of Guinness on stage before greeting the crowd with, 'top of the morning to you'.

McDonagh ended the argument with a 96:94 decision win over Singleton, but
worldboxingnews.net are reporting that he has been slapped with an eight-month ban by the British Boxing Board of Control over the weigh-in incident.
The 40-year-old has gone unbeaten in his last 11 bouts since losing to Bradley Skeete in 2013. His subsequent win that kicked off his impressive run against Liam Griffiths ended a six-fight skid.
However, with this ban in place, he will be unable to step into a British ring until the summer.
