Eddie Hearn told all the fighters on the undercard of the Taylor vs. Carabajal main event, at Wembley, to make a name for themselves. Gary Cully did that, and more.
The Naas boxer went into his lightweight bout against Jaouad Belmehdi with a 14-0 record that included eight KO victories. All it took was 34 seconds and one referee stoppage, after a brutal knockdown, to make it nine KOs in a new and improved 15-0 record.
Cully dominated from the bell and landed a crunching right that dropped Belmehdi and was the beginning of the end.

Belmedhi, to his credit, tried to fight on but the Gary Cully left-hand cross completely did for him, and his legs turned to jelly.

Gary Cully makes pitch for Katie Taylor Croke Park undercard
Following his rapid-fire victory, Gary Cully said he believed he has 'dynamite in that left hand' and, when it lands, people get hurt.
Cully said he had been working hard with Pete Taylor, father of Katie Taylor, and threw a 'one-two, down the pipe that landed on Belmedhi's chin and ended the contest.
It was fortunate for Cully, then, that his new probably, Eddie Hearn was ringside as options for a next fight were discussed. Hearn said he, and Matchroom, are actively looking for Irish talents to put on a planned Taylor undercard for Croke Park, hopefully next year.
"I really, really feel that Ireland has a world-class fighter here," Eddie Hearn declared.
"You look at the likes of Katie Taylor. If she can win tonight and go back to Croke Park, next summer, this is a guy that could be fighting for world championships on that card, as well."

Eddie Hearn wants to keep Gary Cully active, and progressing, over the coming months.
The 26-year-old will be looking to fight once or twice more in the next nine months before taking a place high up a Croke Park undercard.
