Tony Bellew restrained as he tries to confront David Haye before he delivers a cracking interview

One of the most difficult skills to fine tune in the fight game is the art of keeping fickle fans interested in watching you.

And it seems that Tony Bellew is fast becoming an expert in that field after he wasted absolutely no time in calling out his next opponent following his stunning title defence against BJ Flores on Saturday night. A third round stoppage gave Bellew the first successful defence of his WBC cruiserweight title but, not content to rest on his laurels, 'The Bomber' rushed to get in the face of a ringside rival. David Haye stood as Bellew breached the ropes to express his opinion a little more loudly before security intervened and denied the Liverpool crowd yet another fight for their money. Bellew clearly wants a shot at the former WBA heavyweight champion but it was never going to be allowed to go down in the Echo Arena. He was held back and dragged back into the ring so that he could conduct a post-fight interview in front of his hometown crowd.

There are no prizes for guessing who the subject of his interview turned out to be... "You see him? He's been conning the British public since that pathetic comeback of his," Bellew said, pointing in the direction of Haye. "Listen to me right now. David, let's be totally honest. Those two guys you just fought, they're in town now. They're actually working on nightclub doors or they're putting the bins away. Those two guys you fought last were a joke. "And you're robbing everybody who pays to come in the arena. You predicted BJ was going to beat me, didn't you? And he got smashed.

"You're going to get smashed too. I don't care how dangerous you think you are. We remember what happened when I was at amateur and you were fighting for the British title. Me and Pricey spanked you in the gym. "And with 10oz gloves on boy, I'll put you and that pathetic haircut to sleep."
