While it's a drastic departure from City's current away colour scheme, which consists of a predominantly black front with maroon sleeves, it's not the first time that they have used a claret design.
You may remember seeing Nicolas Anelka, Joey Barton and Richard Dunne sporting a similar colour scheme with City's third kit in the 2002/2003 season.
Older supporters may even recall the below number and it's noted that the club may be paying homage to the away kit sported during the 1989/90 season, when they finished 14th in the First Division with Howard Kendall as manager, a world away from the Etihad-fuelled powerhouse of today.
