Alex Ferguson’s “saddest case” is training with Harry Redknapp’s Birmingham

Paul Pogba wasn't the most talented player in Manchester United's 'Class of '11', according to Jesse Lingard.

The team of youngsters that beat Sheffield United 6-3 on aggregate to win the 2011 FA Youth Cup final included the likes of Michael Keane, Sam Johnstone and Lingard himself. But, according to Lingard, Ravel Morrison "was the player who stood out" in that particular side. Morrison's potential has always been unquestionable but a string of off-field issues hampered his progress, as several brushes with the law made managers think twice before taking him on board. Sold by Alex Ferguson to West Ham in 2012, Morrison was branded "the saddest case" by the legendary United boss. "He possessed as much natural talent as any youngster we ever signed, but kept getting into trouble," Fergie added. During an ongoing unsuccessful stint with Lazio, Morrison was loaned to QPR last season, where he started only one game and made four substitute appearances. The Serie A side has allowed Morrison to train with Harry Redknapp's Birmingham this summer and while there has been no mention of an attempt to sign the controversial youngster, Redknapp has admitted that he will be monitoring the 24-year-old to see if a deal could be struck up. https://twitter.com/BCFC/status/882134249897435139 Morrison previously spent the 2012/13 season on loan at St. Andrew's, scoring three goals in 30 appearances, and Redknapp has managed him at QPR during his first loan spell there Redknapp told the Blues' website: "Ravel's come in and he's going to be training with us for a few days so we can have a look at him.
