He was meant to usher in the dawn of the new 'Gaalacticos' era, but Angel Di Maria's short time at Manchester United was far from a success.
The Argentine international is optimistic about his future at new club PSG, and explained that his relationship with Louis van Gaal made his departure from Manchester unavoidable.
"I didn't have a great relationship with the coach, so I think the decision to join Paris was the best solution," Di Maria told Le Parisien.
"Life in England was a bit difficult. It is not easy for a South American. Some people get on fine, and for others it is harder to adapt."
Di Maria's time was also affected by an attempted break-in at his Manchester home, which he said meant "It wasn't reasonable to stay.
"My family wasn’t happy. My daughter was suffering. So it was important to leave," the 27-year-old explained.
The midfielder's time in the Premier League wasn't all bad, with a goal against Leicester nominated for Goal of the Season, but his form in the second half of the season convinced United to cut their losses on the £59.7m investment.
