Barcelona facing a defensive headache as centre-half wants to leave for Serie A

Javier Mascherano has won it all with Barcelona.

But maybe that is what has happened to the former Liverpool player, who it's being reported is leaving Barcelona for a move to Serie A. The 31-year-old was a central midfielder in his time in England, but since his move to Spain, the Argentina international has played more of a withdrawn defensive role as a ball playing, and tough-tackling, centre-half. Despite Mascherano being well under six foot, and not the quickest over five yards, no teams were really able to exploit him. Reports suggest that deal to sign Marquinhos from Paris Saint-Germain has upset Mascherano and he is keen to leave the Camp Nou, with his fee likely to be in excess of €20million, even if Barcelona would prefer not to sell him.
