City are said to have reluctantly agreed to Diaz's sale, and while they have not secured a buyback clause such as the one they are believed to have negotiated with Dortmund for Sancho, they are said to have inserted a sell-on clause. Should Diaz leave the Bernabeu, it's reported that City will pocket 15% of any fee they receive. This, however, changes if Diaz leaves for Manchester United, where City will receive 40% of the money Real receive.
The 19-year-old last appeared for City's first team last month, when they eventually defeated Leicester City on penalties in the Carabao Cup final. Along with Sancho and Stockport-born Phil Foden, he was earmarked as one of City's future stars.
