Damien Duff sees no way back for Jose Mourinho at Manchester United

Former Chelsea winger Damien Duff has said that he sees no way back for his former manager Jose Mourinho at Manchester United following the club's goalless draw with Valencia in the Champions League group stages on Tuesday.

The draw leaves United without a win in their last four games and without a home win since their season opening victory over Leicester City in August. Duff said that the nature of Mourinho's exit from Chelsea in 2015 and United's poor start to the season are good reasons to think that this could be the beginning of the end for the former Chelsea boss at Old Trafford and that United's depth may be a problem for whoever is in charge at the football club.

"Watching that, watching last season, watching this season, it's their worst start in 29 years and seeing how it unraveled at Chelsea, I don't see any way back at the minute," Duff said on RTE's post-match show. "Forget even about him, [Marouane] Fellaini getting a start, Fellaini playing as a Manchester United footballer, I've always had a problem with that anyway. "[Alexis] Sanchez, for me has fallen off a cliff, his legs are gone. Even when you look at the bench you think Man United are a big team, have had big teams in the past, you think who is going to come on and change the game so it's worrying signs regardless of the manager."

Former United midfielder Paul Scholes said that he was surprised that Mourinho was not sacked after United's defeat to West Ham at the weekend. "He's coming out in press conferences, he's constantly having a go at players, he's having a go at people above him because he's not getting what he wants," said Scholes on BT Sport.
