David Meyler struggled to follow his manager’s elaborate instructions after Ryan Mason’s horrific injury

A difficult situation.

Ryan Mason fractured his skull in a horrific collision with Gary Cahill on Sunday afternoon. The pair collided during Chelsea's 2-0 win over Hull City at Stamford Bridge. The Premier League game was delayed by nine minutes as the Hull midfielder received medical treatment and oxygen on the pitch. Mason underwent surgery at a hospital in London on Sunday night, and he is in a stable condition. On Monday afternoon, Hull released a statement saying the 25-year-old has been speaking from his hospital bed about the incident. On first glance, it looks as though Meyler is bamboozled by his manager's instructions. And Silva does spend the best part of 30-seconds telling Meyler what he expects him to do. However, Meyler can be seen looking towards Mason, who is receiving treatment for his very serious injury. It wasn't the easiest situation to enter for Meyler, and there's no doubt Mason's condition would have been on the minds all the players. Detailed tactical instructions probably aren't easy to take on-board at such a time.
