"We have to wait until the end of November to understand if we can fight for the title."But former United manager David Moyes has thrown his backing behind last season's runners-up by suggesting that Mourinho's side ought to be leading the way come the festive season.
While several pundits already consider the Premier League a two-horse race between Manchester City and Liverpool this year, Moyes believes United will take some beating.
"It doesn't matter who you are playing in the Premier League, they are tough." Moyes told BBC Five Live.
"But if you were looking at the games that Manchester United have, the first nine, ten games. You'd have to say you are not playing an Arsenal, a City, a Chelsea in that period. That's why I wonder if Jose's words the other day, the 'let's wait until the end of November', I would be very surprised if United weren't top of the league come the end of November."I think the fixtures which have come out for them, and the way it has worked, will give them every opportunity to be there."
