What Denmark’s win over Wales means for Ireland in the Nations League

Denmark's 2-1 win over Wales on Friday night has relegated Ireland from Group 4 of League B.

Goals from Nicolai Jorgensen and Martin Braithwaite were enough to seal Denmark the win despite Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale pulling one back for the Welsh in the 89th minute. With just one point and no wins from three games, Ireland will now be demoted to League C where they will join Slovakia, Sweden and Northern Ireland among the relegated teams. Ireland will now join 14 other teams with Israel, Finland, Norway and Serbia all securing promotion to League B while Estonia, Slovenia and Lithuania have all been relegated to League D. Meanwhile one of Hungary, Cyprus and Romania will also face relegation with the lowest ranked third-placed team of Nations League C set to be relegated to League D. These were the League C teams at the start of the league ranked on their UEFA co-efficient which determine each group stage.
