Eamon Dunphy has given a rather extreme verdict on why Roy Keane should not replace Stephen Kenny as the next Republic of Ireland manager.
Kenny has officially left his role in charge and a list of names has been thrown around as speculation about who will come in next continues to grow.
One name is Keane, and although he hasn't been a manager himself in almost 12 years, he was the assistant manager under Martin O'Neill in a period that saw them reach Euro 2016.
Eamon Dunphy has no doubts on who should be the next Ireland boss.
Dunphy however, who was once a great defendant of Keane and even ghost-written his first autobiography, believes that someone else should get the job.
He told Morning Ireland: ‘Lee Carsley played 40 times for Ireland, he won the Euro Championships with England last summer.
"I’m told by people who have watched him work that he’s the real deal, he would be my pick."

When asked about the former Man United captain getting the role, he didn't mince his words when it came to reasons why the FAI should stay away from him.
"I would say no. Anyone who knows his record in management and fights he’s had with players would say no.
"He had one achievement, he got Sunderland promoted but other than that, even with the Irish team – we lost Declan Rice and that’s a mistake that the [Martin] O’Neill-Keane management team made.
"They should’ve capped him, they had him in the camp, and they didn’t."
The former RTE pundit then went on to deliver one of the worst insults any athlete, sport star, or manager could receive.
"I wouldn’t say Roy Keane, he might be box office for a while but the pressure on international team management would get to him."
Regardless of whether Keane is the right fit for the job or not, the idea that the ex United star would not be able to handle the pressure, is something that he will find particularly insulting,
