England write to ‘Up the IRA’ Twitter account to send World Cup video

Whatever way you cut this up and break it down, you're still left with one big, massive load of what the fuck is happening? If you thought England's squad announcement video was the strangest thing to happen in the world today, you were wrong. You obviously hadn't seen the England squad. Gareth Southgate has decided to take 12 defenders and goalkeepers with him in a 23-man contingent to the World Cup with two holding midfielders. That leaves them with eight attack-minded players, and Fabian Delph. Danny Welbeck is there for the craic too. But if you thought the England squad was the strangest thing to happen in the world today, you were wrong. It was England's interaction with a Twitter account known as Up The IRA. A humble little page boasting two followers at the time of England's tweet, the official social media channel of the England football teams decided to reply to @OohAhUpTheIRA. They didn't do anything wrong, they just sent them on a copy of their initial tweet which announced the squad in the most annoying way possible. But they did interact with a Twitter account called 'up the ira' whose location is set at IRA. There's not a lot of activity on the page, it was only founded in May after all, presumably just today just to troll the English account but it seems to be a pro IRA page anyway and England were somehow baited into a thread with it before they took action and deleted their tweet. After England deleted their tweet, the account reverted to having no tweets sent out to its legion of followers. They also changed their name to Glasgow Celtic along with the profile picture and cover photo.
