They reportedly feel that Ten Hag has been 'hung out to dry' during United's haphazard transfer window, which has included a prolonged chase for Frenkie de Jong and Cristiano Ronaldo wanting to leave.
The Dutch coach is said to be unhappy with how Man United have conducted their transfer business this summer.
The club reportedly promised Ten Hag that they would bring in at least five new players this summer. John Murtough, United's 'football director', has only managed to sign three new players, however.
Man United have also struggled to land their top targets, or move on unwanted players. Andreas Pereira, who was sold to Fulham for £8.55m, is the only player United have sold this summer, with the other departures being either free transfers or loans moves.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag has cancelled a scheduled day-off for the Man United squad, according to
The Sunday Times.

Ajax coach reportedly 'tore into' his underperforming team after they were humiliated by Brentford. The squad arrived back in Manchester on Saturday night and were due to have Sunday off.
Ten Hag, however, ordered the squad to report for training on Sunday morning. United's next match is against Liverpool at Old Trafford next Monday.
