Erling Haaland's Manchester City contract contains a release clause which can be activated in two years time, according to reports in Germany.
Haaland completed a move to the Premier League champions earlier this week after Pep Guardiola's side triggered the €63m release clause in his Borussia Dortmund contract and will move to the Etihad Stadium on July 1.
After scoring 85 goals in 88 appearances for Dortmund, the Norway international's signature was one of the most sought-after in the world, with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Real Madrid all interested in the frontman.
Reports say clubs will be able to activate his release clause in 2024.
However, it seems that plans are in place already for those sides to be able to make a move in the future, as
BILD claim that the 22-year-old will have a £128m (€150m) release clause inserted into his contract - which can be activated once he has spent two years at the club.
Haaland's
late agent Mino Raiola is the man who is reportedly responsible for including the clause and it was also one of the reasons why
Manchester United decided against making a move for the forward before he joined Dortmund.
Madrid is the most likely destination for the forward after City, but given that Karim Benzema is enjoying the best spell of his career to date and PSG star Kylian Mbappé is expected to move to Spain in the summer, Los Blancos felt that they didn't need to sign Haaland in the short term.
Guardiola is looking forward to working with Haaland
Despite the talk surrounding the clause, City boss Guardiola is looking forward to working with one of football's brightest talents.
"I'm very pleased he decided to come and join us," he said on Wednesday.
"Next season we are going to work together and hopefully he can settle, help him to settle as soon as possible in terms of Manchester and a house. I am pretty sure he is going to adapt quickly to the way we want to play.
