Yet again the summer, Manchester United have another signing.
No, it's not Paul Pogba. It's not even a footballer, for that matter.
Instead, United announced on Monday that they've bolstered their ever-growing army of official partners with Virgin Money becoming their... *breathes in*... 'Official Retail Financial Services Partner in the UK'.

Various pictures of a beaming Richard Branson began to circulate after the announcement, but it was the following image, showing him holding up a United shirt with his surname and the number seven on the back, which seemed to grab the most attention.

Some of the finest players in the club's history have worn the number seven shirt, but it's fair to say that its current owner, Memphis Depay, didn't have the best of debut seasons at Old Trafford last year.
His failure to hit top form, coupled with the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, have seen some suggest that the Dutchman may be given a different squad number in time for Jose Mourinho's first competitive match in a few weeks while someone new will take up the mantle of the number seven shirt. Some reports have claimed it will be Ibrahimovic; others have hinted it may be Anthony Martial.
So, the sight of Branson with the number seven shirt was always going to result in lots of people making the same joke, wasn't it?

God love the internet. Nothing if not predictable.
