Former Arsenal man set to join Pep Guardiola at Manchester City

Pep Guardiola isn't messing around when it comes to shaping his new-look Manchester City squad.

A deal for Ilkay Gundogan and his one and a half knees has already been done and dusted with Borussia Dortmund and if Sky Sport's trusted sources are to be believed, he could be followed by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. But the latest reports also suggest that Pep is set to make a significant addition to his coaching staff, with recently-retired Mikel Arteta set to be named as the club's assistant manager. The news comes from Sky Sport Italia reporter Gianluca Di Marzio, who indicates that Arteta's move to Manchester is close. The scoop comes a matter of weeks after Arteta called time on his playing career. The 34-year-old had played for Arsenal since 2011 following a six year spell at Everton. With the season recently completed, Arteta has been spotted taking his various coaching badges and was photographed taking a session on passing at the FA Wales Coaches Conference at the end of May.
