Former Manchester United defender Michael Keane set for Liverpool move, say reports

The Premier League season is nearly done and dusted.

Liverpool, despite seemingly trying their best to give Manchester United every chance of a top four finish, look set to take one of the Champions League places. Despite dropping more points at home to Southampton on Sunday afternoon, Jürgen Klopp's side finished the weekend a point further ahead of United after they went on to lose 2-0 at Arsenal. Although United have a game in hand on them, the five-point gap gives Liverpool breathing space heading into their final two games. With thoughts already turning to next season, reports on Monday evening claim Liverpool will also strengthen their defence with United old boy, Michael Keane. Sold by Louis van Gaal to Burnley in January 2015, it's already been heavily reported that the England international will leave Turf Moor in the summer. United were said to be one of the interested parties, but the Mirror now claim a deal to take him to Anfield is close. Keane will cost £25m and has agreed a deal in principle with Liverpool which is thought to be around four years. It is said that Keane is waiting for Liverpool to secure Champions League football before committing to the deal. Tottenham, Everton and Chelsea have also been linked with a move for Keane, who came through the youth ranks at United.
