Lampard attended Chelsea's goalless draw with Liverpool on Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge.
He was pictured sitting in the director's box at the Premier League game, behind Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, the club's co-sporting directors.
According to The Times and The Telegraph, Lampard is open to the possibility of returning to Chelsea as a caretaker.
He would not be considered for the position permanently, and the club are currently exploring their options.

It would, however, be a shock return for the Chelsea legend, who managed the club from the summer of 2019 to January 2021.
Lampard was credited with bringing through several young players to the first team.
Yet, when he was dismissed, Chelsea were in ninth place in the Premier League. Thomas Tuchel, Lampard's successor, won the Champions League with the club a few months later.
Lampard has been out of management since he was sacked by Everton in January. He started his career as a coach with Derby County in 2018.
Lampard remains a Chelsea legend and their all-time top goalscorer with 211 goals in 648 games.
