Frank Lampard could be set for Chelsea return as caretaker manager

Frank Lampard could return to Chelsea as caretaker manager until the end of the season, according to reports. The Blues are searching for a new manager after sacking Graham Potter. Chelsea are interested in speaking to Julien Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique about the vacant position. Lampard, however, is said to be in contention to take over as caretaker manager until the end of the current campaign. Lampard attended Chelsea's goalless draw with Liverpool on Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge. He was pictured sitting in the director's box at the Premier League game, behind Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, the club's co-sporting directors. According to The Times and The Telegraph, Lampard is open to the possibility of returning to Chelsea as a caretaker. Lampard was credited with bringing through several young players to the first team. Yet, when he was dismissed, Chelsea were in ninth place in the Premier League. Thomas Tuchel, Lampard's successor, won the Champions League with the club a few months later. Lampard has been out of management since he was sacked by Everton in January.
