It looks like those Cristiano Ronaldo rumours are true after all

By now, we're all more than used to seeing stories linking Cristiano Ronaldo away from Real Madrid.

Without fail, such reports emerge at least once a year - usually suggesting he could be on the brink of a return to Manchester United. So when fresh reports broke on Friday morning claiming that Ronaldo had indicated to Real president, Florentino Perez, that he intended to leave this summer, they were inevitably met with plenty of scepticism. Now though, according to a fresh report from the BBC's Dan Roan, it seems there may actually be something in it. A source close to the player has said that Ronaldo is "angry" and "sad" at being accused of tax fraud and intends to leave Real Madrid as a result. Recently, Spanish prosecutors had accused the four-time Ballon d'Or winner of evading tax to the value of £13m. "He feels he's honest, has good character and did everything OK, so he doesn't understand," the source told the BBC. "He's very sad and really upset." Although some bookmakers have made Manchester United his most likely destination if he were to leave the Spanish capital, other reports suggest a move to Paris Saint-Germain is more likely. The Chinese Super League is also said to be an option, although his advisers are said to be encouraging him to remain in Europe.
