Gavin Bazunu wasn’t going to miss Shamrock Rovers become champions

Bazunu came through the Shamrock Rovers academy.

Ireland's international goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu wasn't going to miss out on seeing his old club, Shamrock Rovers, lift their 20th SSE Airtricity League title. The Rovers beat Derry City 1-0 to clinch the title and the celebrations were massive, as you could really feel the weight of what they have achieved here. Bazunu left the Irish side back in 2018 to join Man City, before being sold on to Southampton where he currently applies his trade. Since leaving the club, the shot stopper has made 12 appearances for his country, and looks to be the nation's current number one; that's even with the fierce competition of Liverpool's Caoimhin Kelleher breathing down his neck. Bazunu came through the Shamrock Rovers academy, and made the journey home to watch his former side become champions once again. Another important person in attendance last night was young Josh, the son of team manager Stephen Bradley.
