Hull City plan classy show of support for Ryan Mason as the club offers update on midfielder

Hull are planning a terrific show of support for Ryan Mason as he recovers from a fractured skull.

Mason suffered the horror injury in a clash with Chelsea defender Gary Cahill on Sunday afternoon, forcing a stop to the game for nine minutes as the midfielder received treatment on the pitch. The club released a welcome update on Mason's condition on Tuesday afternoon, revealing that the 25-year-old was making "excellent progress" in his recovery from surgery. The statement continued: "He will continue to be closely monitored by staff at St Mary’s Hospital over the next few days, whilst also remaining in contact with our medical team to assess his progress.

"There will be no further updates from the club until there are any changes in Ryan’s condition. We also ask that people respect Ryan & his family’s privacy whilst he remains in hospital."

Mason will remain in hospital for the coming days and while he concentrates on his recovery, his Hull teammates have a special tribute planned to let their close friend know that they are thinking about him in such a difficult time in the player's life. The club announced that the Hull players will wear 'Mason 25' t-shirts during their pre-game warm up ahead of Thursday's EFL Cup semi-final second leg clash with Manchester United in what is a wonderful gesture that we're sure will be greatly appreciated by Mason and his family. The Tigers have also asked fans in attendance to respectfully offer a minute's applause in the 25th minute as a show of support for Hull's number 25.
