The midfielder, who suffered a horror injury against Ipswich in April, denied the charge, and was brought before an independent regulatory commission this week.
Despite his denial, the charge was found proven, and he will now face target testing for the next two years by the FA after the sanction set down by the regulatory commission found no significant fault or negligence on his part.
He has also been warned as to his future conduct.
The full judgement has been published on the FA website this morning.
