Irish international set to become latest example of David Moyes’ Evertonising of Sunderland

David Moyes clearly loved his time as Everton manager. We all know this. And that's precisely why the former Toffees boss - now at Sunderland - is intent on squeezing as many ex-Everton players as possible into his current side in the hope that the Black Cats can stave off relegation this season. Moyes was made Sunderland manager at the start of this term, replacing Sam Allardyce, and ever since the Scot has been on a mission to turn the Wearside outfit into Everton 2.0. Last summer Moyes drafted in powerful centre-forward Victor Anichebe to assist in Sunderland's desperate pursuit of goals. Moyes knew the Nigerian well from their time at Goodison Park as Anichebe made a grand total of 168 appearances for Everton. He's now at Sunderland. Only last week Moyes brought in Joleon Lescott until the end of the season. The centre-half featured 143 times for the Toffees across four seasons on Merseyside before he moved to Manchester City. He's now at Sunderland. Steven Pienaar enjoyed two spells at Everton and is remembered fondly by the club's fans so obviously he was going to be towards the top of Moyes' list of targets and, lo and behold, the South African signed on the dotted line last August. He's also at Sunderland. Already at the Stadium of Light when Moyes arrived on the scene with his bag full of DVD's of Everton's glory years was midfielder Jack Rodwell, who's not enjoyed the best record on Wearside. But still. He's definitely at Sunderland. And now Moyes is turning to a Derryman who is currently still at Everton as he bids to solidify his midfield for the crucial few months ahead. Darron Gibson, come on down. BBC report that Moyes is keen on signing up the Republic of Ireland international before the transfer window slams shut on Tuesday night. Gibson has been at Goodison Park since 2011 and has scored two goals in his 69 appearances. And with the added news that Everton's Bryan Oviedo is also the subject of transfer interest from the Sunderland boss, there is a genuine possibility that Sunderland's starting XI for their next Premier League game could include six ex-Everton men.
