James McClean could be in the doghouse on his wedding day if West Brom reach the FA Cup final

If any trolls out there want to do James McClean a favour, then how about buying him a personal organiser, a diary, or even just a calendar.

The Republic of Ireland winger is due to get married this summer, but his wedding date may just clash with one of the biggest games of the season. The Derry Journal are reporting that the West Brom man has somehow managed to book his nuptials for the day before the FA Cup final, which would mean a bit of a sticky re-schedule if he was to appear in the Wembley showpiece. McClean has told the newspaper that if his side do reach the cup final, he has a foolproof plan to get life as a married man off to the worst possible start.

“She’s the only person who doesn’t want to see us reach the final. We might have to get married at half-time or after the game, maybe, should we get there. “We booked the wedding last year when I was at Wigan for May 20th and the FA Cup Final falls on May 21st, so she’s hoping we get beat every time we play a cup game.”

The wedding is another calendar entry for a busy McClean, as he will be hoping to be part of Ireland’s squad for the European Championships in France just weeks after his proposed wedding day. McClean is hopeful his fiancée Erin understands his tricky end-of-season situation.

“You can imagine when I told her the final was the day after our wedding date - she wasn’t exactly jumping for joy, put it that way. But she understands.

Let's hope for the 26-year-old's sake that she really, really does.
