Carragher speaks for all of us
Jamie Carragher has tweeted his disapproval after reports emerged claiming Liverpool and Manchester United have entered into discussions
over a proposed European Super League.
According to a report by
Sky News, the new competition - which will be known as the European Premier League - would see up to 18 of European football's grandest clubs compete in a format which would represent the most significant change to the football landscape in recent memory.
The competition has already received the backing of FIFA, with financiers putting together a £4.6bn funding package to help with its creation.
As well as United and Liverpool - England's two most successful clubs - the report from Sky claims as many as five English teams could be involved in the competition, which could begin as early as 2022.
Though there are no suggestions the European Super League would replace the Premier League at this stage, the developments will only fuel the belief that English football's pyramid format is set to be overhauled in the near future - particularly after recent
reports surrounding 'Project Big Picture'.

Only last week, reports claimed United and Liverpool have been forced to abandon their plans for what has been called PBP, a plan which would have reduced the size of the Premier League while handing more power and control over key decisions to the big six clubs.
