FAI Chief Executive John Delaney has made his first media appearance since the arrest of Pat Hickey.
Delaney was
speaking on WLR FM following the death of former FAI president Milo Corcoran.
A court in Brazil issued a warrant last weekend,
giving police authorisation to seize the passport of Delaney, the most powerful man in Irish football.
Olympic Council of Ireland vice president Delaney was named in the warrant along with five other OCI officials - acting OCI president William O’Brien, Linda O’Reilly, Dermot Henihan, Kevin Kilty and Stephen Martin - as part of an investigation into illegal touting of Rio Olympic tickets.
OCI president Hickey is being held in Rio's Bangu prison following his arrest last week.
He stands accused of involvement in a cartel who plotted to illegally sell Olympic tickets for a profit.
Of Waterford native Corcoran, Delaney said: "Milo was a great personal friend of mine, someone who I had the pleasure of knowing for more than 30 years, and someone who I was extremely close to.
"He made an immeasurable contribution to the game and he is someone whose loss will be felt deeply in the world of football."
Delaney is famously cautious around the media - refusing to hold a press conference following the last four FAI AGMs - preferring to limit himself to one-on-one broadcast interviews. Such as last year's memorable appearance on Ray D'Arcy's radio show.
