We have all of the player ratings for the Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton today as the game finished 2-0 to the home side and controversial red card for the away team.
The first half was a case of Liverpool dominating possession, but Everton still managing to carve out some really big chances, one in particular from Dominic Calvin Lewis in the opening few minutes.
However, the home side still looked to be the most threatening as they repeatedly caught the Toffees on the break, running at blistering pace, particularly with Luis Diaz down that left flank, giving Ashley Young all sorts of trouble.
In the end he proved to be too much trouble as Young was already on a yellow card when the tricky winger took him on one vs one, only for the Englishman to chop him down and pick up his second card, meaning that Everton were down to 10 men.
Sean Dyche made the team even more compact for the start of the second half, and they had real success in making a blockade against their fierce rivals.
However, just seconds after Liverpool were denied a penalty following a late tackle on Diaz, the Columbian was in the thick of it again, putting in a cross that hits the hand of the defender, thus awarding a penalty which was cooly converted by Mohammad Salah.
The Egyptian King has now scored in four home games in a row, and anyone who thought that Liverpool may have been better off selling him in the summer for crazy amounts of money, has well and truly been silenced after his fantastic start to the campaign.
In the end Salah proved to be the difference as he nailed a second goal, thanks to a wonderful break from Darwin Nunez, and Anfield was rocking as victory was secured.
