Liverpool to appoint former Manchester United coach

Liverpool are set to bring in a former Manchester United goalkeeping coach.

Jurgen Klopp hopes to add Jack Robinson to his coaching staff because head goalkeeping coach John Achterberg needs an extra pair of hands, according to a report from Football365. Achterberg is seeking help with the training of Liverpool's 'keepers as he is currently working with as many as five different players a day and can't dedicate enough time to each. The plan is for Achterberg to continue coaching Alisson Becker and Simon Mignolet at the club's training complex while Robinson will be tasked with developing the talents of the Reds' younger 'keepers, Kamil Grabara and Caoimhin Kelleher. Robinson spent seven years at Old Trafford, where he assisted Eric Steele and Frans Hoek in the training of world-class goalkeepers, Edwin van der Sar and David de Gea. Robinson is currently contracted to the FA, where he works with England's underage goalkeepers and saw his reputation soar when he was part of the backroom staff for the U17 side which won the World Cup last year. Klopp has not been afraid to bring in new coaches and while his decision to appoint throw-in specialist, Thomas Gronnemark, on a part-time basis has come in for some criticism, the Liverpool boss insists that "you cannot have enough specialists around you." He added: "I must always be the guy who makes the decisions on when we use all these specialists but you cannot have enough. We have the fitness, medical department, we have the nutrition, and now we have somebody for throw-ins."
