Man United are no longer classed as one of the top 20 clubs in the world

Manchester United are no longer classed as one of the top 20 football clubs in the world, according to an updated ranking of clubs in Europe. United, who haven't won a Premier League title in almost 10 years, have been on the decline in the post-Alex Ferguson era. However, they finally look like they've found the man to guide them back to the glory days in Erik ten Hag. But despite their relatively positive start to the season under the Dutchman, the long-term effects of their recent decline are still being felt. In a series of rankings published by FiveThirtyEight, 638 international teams were compared using their Soccer Power Index (SPI). A list of the top 50 clubs from these rankings were released as United were unable to make the top 20, only managing to secure a place of 22nd. English teams dominate the top 20 with six sides from the Premier League featuring (Arsenal, Brighton and Hove Albion, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur). Brighton were one of the surprise contenders in the top 20 as Roberto De Zerbi's team a surprise entry at number 20. It was no shock to see the blue side of Manchester taking the number one spot while Bayern Munich are a close second. The two LaLiga sides are also amongst the top 20 as well as Paris Saint-Germain. The top 20 list is as follows:

16. Benfica (Primeira Liga): SPI -- 79.4

14. Porto (Primeira Liga): SPI -- 79.6

13. Atletico Madrid (La Liga): SPI -- 79.7

12. Borussia Dortmund (Bundesliga): SPI -- 80.0
