Manchester United to recall defender after rejecting Wolves’ loan offer for young goalkeeper

The relationship between Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers has seen better days.

Apparently, United manager Jose Mourinho is none too pleased with the way that Wolves have been conducting themselves with on-loan Red Devils defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson. Mourinho is understood to be keen on recalling the left back after he was not afforded the opportunities promised to him in the initial loan agreement. Borthwick-Jackson joined the Molineux outfit last August for a considerable loan fee but has seen his playing time considerably limited, featuring just six times all season. The fact that manager Paul Lambert has failed to play the youngster since November does not sit well with Mourinho, who has refused to allow another player join Wolves on loan. According to a report from the Daily Telegraph, Mourinho rejected the advances of the West Midlands club when they put in a loan request for United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone. Wolves weren't the only West Midlands club eager to add Johnstone to their ranks as Aston Villa also put in an offer to take the stopper on loan until the end of the season. The treatment of Borthwick-Jackson was enough for Mourinho to make his mind up and choose Villa over Wolves as the temporary destination for the 23-year-old. Mourinho never did strike us as an individual who found it easy to forgive and forget.
