The fact that manager Paul Lambert has failed to play the youngster since November does not sit well with Mourinho, who has refused to allow another player join Wolves on loan.
According to a report from the Daily Telegraph, Mourinho rejected the advances of the West Midlands club when they put in a loan request for United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.
Wolves weren't the only West Midlands club eager to add Johnstone to their ranks as Aston Villa also put in an offer to take the stopper on loan until the end of the season.
The treatment of Borthwick-Jackson was enough for Mourinho to make his mind up and choose Villa over Wolves as the temporary destination for the 23-year-old.
