Manchester United’s Morgan Schneiderlin shares his thoughts on “legend” Cantona

Morgan Schneiderlin knows exactly how to endear himself to the Manchester United faithful.

The Frenchman arrived from Southampton for £24m, and has channeled another of the club's Gallic stars. Schneiderlin recalls watching  Eric Cantona playing at Old Trafford in an interview with United's programme, making reference to the title-winner's memorable chip against Sunderland in 1996. "He’s a United legend because of everything he did for this club but he was so special because he had a different character," Schneiderlin says. "He was someone that you had to respect because of the way he was. Some people walk into a room and you say: ‘Wow, he has something special’. Eric had that – it was just inside him."
