Paul Scholes pinpoints why Jose Mourinho is going to be better than Louis van Gaal

Paul Scholes, please, let it go.

Louis van Gaal is gone, and the joy in your eyes should be returning after two seasons under the yoke of the Dutchman came to an end on Monday. But even now that van Gaal has waved goodbye to Old Trafford, the former England midfielder just cannot resist another dig. Scholes was one of LvG's most vocal critics during his spell at Manchester United, describing the football played by his side as boring and uninspired, and they were just some of the kinder words he used about the former Ajax boss. So, the Manchester United legend must have been delighted this week when the axe finally fell on LvG's head. But, even with the Dutchman away from the Premier League giants, Scholes still isn't able to crack a smile. Speaking to the BBC the ex-midfielder admits he's happy to see Jose Mourinho lined up as the Dutchman' successor, but that LvG really never got to grips with what made his former club so great.

"I think we've seen the last two years, did van Gaal really get the ethos of the club?" "I think Mourinho will have watched that closely and will have seen what happened. He's a top manager, he's proven that before and hopefully he can do that again."

So much for the philosophy, eh, Louis? Scholes is also keeping his fingers crossed that his best mate Ryan Giggs will get to keep his job at the club, as rumours circulate that the Welshman will be jettisoned after over twenty years service.
