We doubt that the new Premier League ball can be quite so easily manipulated by the sun, but the spiel from Nike sure makes it sound all sorts of impressive.
According to the sports giant, the ball, called the Nike Ordem 3, delivers "accurate flight, consistent touch and maximum visibility".
Well they have that last part right, as we suspect goalkeepers can't make the excuse of not seeing the ball until late again after the garish pink design was unveiled today.
To be honest the ball seems more like something out of science fiction, or like it was designed in a wind tunnel along with the next Bugatti Veyron as the manufacturers claim that the ball's...
...geometric 12-panel design enhances flight, while distributing pressure evenly across the ball. This mean that the ball gives a consistent, accurate and powerful feel, with the first touch optimized by a fuse-welded synthetic leather casing.Fuse-welded eh? I'll be kicking with nothing but 'fuse-welded' footballs from now on. I'll take two, my good man. https://twitter.com/premierleague/status/615848369320148993 The next time Charlie Adam skies one over from 15 yards he can also blame the design of the ball that claims you are guaranteed an
...explosive strike thanks to a six-wing, carbon-latex air chamber that accelerates it off the foot at pace. We're going back to making balls out of paper and sellotape. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UN6cjaBN1FQ&t=0m52s H/T to Premier League
