The two La Liga clubs have reportedly passed-up the chance to sign the Spanish midfielder. Madrid are heavily stocked with creative midfielders and Barcelona have just signed Andre Gomes.
Fabregas joined Chelsea from Barcelona in 2014. The former Arsenal captain had a brilliant first season at Stamford Bridge, winning the Premier League title and setting-up a number of goals for his teammates.
However, like the rest of the Chelsea squad, he struggled last season and reportedly isn't considered to be a key player by new manager Conte for the season ahead.
