"We had that motivation of players and pundits and fans only assuming we went there for money. No one assumed that we were going there to try and win the title..." Ferdinand then interrupted: "You went there as well for that no?" Lescott continued: "It helps! It helps! That was the only reason we went to the club - it wasn't to win the Premier League and try and create something that is happening now - and it's a huge credit to everyone at the club. "There was added motivation. Mark Hughes didn't get enough time for me personally we had a kind of respect for him as a group of players for going to bat for us and get us to the club. We would have liked to have had him as a long-term manager."
