The Blues boss has insisted that no contact has been made with the former Ireland international but that's not to say that he wouldn't be open to the idea of signing one of the Premier League's most prolific goalscorers.
Keane has 126 Premier League goals to his name and his guaranteed goals would give Birmingham a significant boost in their promotion quest next season. Redknapp told the Mirror:
“Robbie is a player you would love to have around your football club," “He is just a fantastic professional footballer, a great trainer, enthusiastic person, an absolutely buzzy character."
“We haven’t spoken to Robbie," Redknapp continued, "but I wouldn’t want to be a liar and say I’m not interested in him and then two weeks later bring him in.
“Any football club with Robbie Keane in is a better football club. “He can bring an awful lot to any club. At the moment I haven’t done anything but it’s not an impossibility.”Redknapp likes to talk but it's an odd way to reach out to a player - through the sports pages rather than getting him on the blower.
