One line stands out like a sore thumb as Bournemouth sack Scott Parker

AFC Bournemouth have parted company with Head Coach Scott Parker, the club has announced.

The decision to part ways with Scott Parker comes following a 9-0 humbling at the hands of Liverpool at the weekend, the joint-worse in Premier League history. In a statement, co-owner Maxim Demin said: “I would like to place on record my gratitude to Scott and his team for their efforts during their time with us.

"Our promotion back to the Premier League last season under his tenure will always be remembered as one of the most successful seasons in our history. “However, in order for us to keep progressing as a team and a Club as a whole, it is unconditional that we are aligned in our strategy to run the club sustainably. We must also show belief in and respect for one another. "That is the approach that has brought this club so much success in recent history, and one that we will not veer from now. Our search for a new head coach will begin immediately.”

Parker said the Cherries were 'under-prepared' for the Premier League and was urging the club to make more signings before the summer transfer window closed. Gary O'Neil takes interim charge

Scott Parker led Bournemouth to a second place finish in the Championship, last season, as they finished second to the last team he was manager of - Fulham. Gary O’Neil will take interim charge of the team, and will be assisted by Shaun Cooper and Tommy Elphick. Rafa Benitez and former Burnley manager Sean Dyche were both mentioned, on Sky Sports News, as a potential replacement. Related links:
