Reguilón is understood to be very keen to sign for United, and the statistics indicate he would be an upgrade on their current left-back, Luke Shaw, who featured in a pre-season friendly against Aston Villa at the weekend.
The Spaniard recorded five assists last season for Sevilla compared to Shaw's one, and also boasts better tackling and interception stats in defence.
Madrid's willingness to sell Reguilón may come as a surprise to some but with Marcelo still playing at a high level and Ferland Mendy in the squad to rotate with the Brazilian, Reguilón's minutes would be limited if he were to stay at the Bernabeu.
Madrid recognise his potential though, hence the desire to insert a buy-back clause. United are understandably reluctant to bow to that demand but anything can happen in the transfer window.
