This has freed up the shoulder area for something a little more specific to Manchester. It seems that the German sportswear manufacturer has taken its inspiration from the city's rich industrial past.
The 'honeycomb' design, which is also evident down the middle of the new home kit, looks to be a reference to Manchester's famous worker bee motif, which was adopted by the city during the Industrial Revolution.
Even today, the humble worker bee is evident throughout the city as a symbol of Manchester's work ethic and success through endeavour. It seems the football shirts have finally cottoned on too.
