So when former Southampton boss Nigel Adkins took his side on a lap of appreciation after the game, it could only have been expected that some of the supporters - those who bothered to stay behind - might not have been entirely happy.
And it doesn't help that, a) the manager is on Twitter and, b) he tweets about local basketball teams on game day.
