A top British lawyer has had his partnership with a US law firm "terminated" after a series of comments towards Liverpool fans in the wake of Chelsea's 3-1 defeat last weekend.
Clive O'Connell, a partner with Goldman Segalla, was interviewed by a YouTube fan channel after the Stamford Bridge game, and while defending under-fire Blues boss Jose Mourinho, labelled Liverpool fans 'Scouse scum' and 'nasty horrible people'.
He later began another tirade on social media, which has since been deleted, where the
Evening Standard reported he told Liverpool fans to 'crawl back to your horrible Merseyside homes'.

O'Connell, subsequently apologised for his remarks but it appears that has not been enough for his firm.
Goldberg Segalla managing partner Rick Cohen issued a statement last night announcing the end of the firm's partnership, saying O'Connell's comments 'are entirely inconsistent with our ethos', and that 'his conduct does not rise to the standards to which we hold ourselves. For these reasons we have terminated our partnership with Mr O'Connell, effective immediately'.

While O'Connell's remarks were far from pleasant, many football fans have come out in sympathy over the zero-tolerance approach shown by his bosses.
