There was just one point separating the teams going coming into tonight's game, but it took Horgan just seven minutes to open the scoring.
The 24-year-old lofted a free-kick over the Cork wall, connecting with the crossbar, and goalkeeper Mark McNulty before going in.
Horgan's second was a bit special.
The Galway-born winger picked up the ball just outside Dundalk's penalty area, after a Cork attack broke down, and ran the length of the pitch to score, dribbling past one player and smashing the ball home before three Cork defenders got the chance to dispossess him.
Horgan's display went down well with those watching the game on RTE.
