That message is as true today as it was when it was first scribbled down on that oversized foolscap copy paper back in 1776. Some golazos are just inexplicably better than others.
For example, a goal is always greatly improved if it bounces in off the underside of the crossbar. There's no rhyme or reason to this logic, yet for some reason it's almost universally accepted as fact.
Another goal which is simply better than most others is a volley that's rocketed in from distance after the player chips it up for himself. That's exactly what Roda JC's Tom Van Hyfte managed to do against NEC on Monday, and it was a thing of beauty.
No doubt Jefferson was looking down upon the match from that undiscovered country mortals go after this life, tipping his feathered tricorne in appreciation of Van Hyfte's effort before scooting off to school Marlon Brando at Mortal Kombat again.
